Wylie Cheer
The Wylie Cheer program is a recreational program that focuses on cheerleading, fundamentals, and sideline cheering for our tackle football teams. Participants do not need to try out and do not need any prior cheer experience. Returning and new participants will be placed on squads based on their grade level. Our cheer squads consist of participants in grades Kinder - 6th grade.
The Fall Tackle Game Season runs from August through November each year.
Please read our FAQ's section below for further information.
**Note: As of Fall 2026, you may only register/participate in WAYS Cheer if you are a Wylie Resident/attend WISD. **

Coaches do NOT need to have any previous cheer or dance experience. A guide to cheerleading basics and a suggested practice curriculum will be provided to each coach. You will also be provided a video playlist of suggested cheers, chants, and other relevant videos.
Registration may close early if all spots are filled and we cannot find coaches for new squads. Please consider volunteering your time for the upcoming season.

Practice Information
The dates/times of practices will be set by your squad coach. Practices will be held at Founder's Park. The location within the park will be set by the squad coach. Practices are tentatively set for the first week of July for 2026. Practice times are up to the Coaches' discretion, they typically will be from 6PM-7:30PM OR 6:30PM-8PM. Practices will be 2 days a week throughout the entire season, with a total of 3 hours a week.
Since cheerleading is a performance sport, participants are REQUIRED to attend ALL practices. Attendance is taken at every practice and turned into cheer leadership.
All practices are closed to observers. If you would prefer to stay with your child for practices, you can volunteer as a coach, assistant coach, team mom, or helper for your child's squad.
We do practice outdoors, so the cheerleaders need to be prepared for the Texas heat. Wylie Cheer does not have an indoor facility. Please send a large water bottle to every practice!!
